Infener and Ryze Power Pave the Way for Decentralised Hydrogen Supply

Joint Press Release from Infener and Ryze Power

Gengenbach, 22 January 2025: Green hydrogen is increasingly becoming a cornerstone of the energy transition in Baden-Württemberg. However, the critical challenge lies in its provision. At a time when the demand for climate-friendly and independent energy is growing, Ryze Power and Infener have signed a new offtake agreement (LOI) to ensure the efficient supply and distribution of green hydrogen to customers in Southern Germany and Switzerland.

Of the planned 9,666-kilometre hydrogen core grid, only 470 kilometres are expected to connect Baden-Württemberg. Addressing this gap is vital to optimally integrate the region into the national hydrogen infrastructure. Infener and Ryze Power are stepping in to fill these gaps with decentralised solutions tailored to the region’s needs. Infener’s production hubs in Villingen-Schwenningen and Gengenbach will supply large-scale green hydrogen starting around 2026/2027, while Ryze Power ensures its efficient distribution to refuelling stations and industrial customers across southern Germany and Switzerland. The two partners formalised this commitment today by signing an offtake agreement (LOI).

Joel Vogl, CEO of Infener, emphasised: “Green hydrogen is the key to the energy transition. Together with Ryze Power, we demonstrate how sustainable production and decentralised supply can go hand in hand to achieve a regional and independent energy transition.”

Leander Hoffmann, Managing Director of Ryze Power, added: “This partnership creates new opportunities for an emissions-free energy supply. With our infrastructure, we deliver green hydrogen exactly where it’s needed – to industry and the fuel pump.”

Germany has set a target of building 10 gigawatts (GW) of domestic electrolysis capacity by 2030. Initiatives like the collaboration between Infener and Ryze Power make a vital contribution to achieving these ambitious goals. By enabling the conversion and storage of excess renewable energy as hydrogen, they contribute not only to energy supply but also to grid stability.
